Why us
Why Choose Us for Pool Fences in Norman, OK
A pool fence is a safety barrier first and a fence second. We build it to do its job, and to look good doing it.
-
Built to Norman’s Pool Rules
Height, gap size and gate latching are designed in from the start, so the fence is ready for the city’s pool inspection.
-
Gates That Close Every Time
Self-closing hinges and magnetic latches, set to swing out away from the pool and adjusted until the gate latches on its own from any position.
-
No Gaps Underneath
We keep the bottom of the fence tight to the ground and deck, and close low spots so a 4-inch sphere can’t pass under it either.
-
Coordinated With Your Pool Build
We plan the fence line and deck-mounted posts with your pool builder, so the barrier is ready before the final inspection.

Questions
Pool Fence FAQ — Norman, OK
Can my existing backyard fence count as the pool barrier?
Sometimes. It has to be at least 4 feet tall all the way around, with no gap a 4-inch sphere can pass through, including under the fence, and every gate in it must be self-latching. Old wood fences often fail on gaps at the bottom, loose boards or gates that don't latch on their own. We check yours and fix or replace what doesn't qualify.
Which way should a pool gate open?
Outward, away from the pool. A gate that swings out and closes on its own means a child pushing on it from outside only pushes it shut. It should also latch automatically every time, without anyone having to lift a latch or slam it.
How high should the pool gate latch be?
High enough that a small child can't reach it from outside. Pool safety guidelines commonly recommend placing the release at least 54 inches above the ground, or on the pool side of the gate where a child outside can't reach through. Magnetic pool latches are designed for this.
What's the best material for a pool fence?
Ornamental aluminum is the most popular: it can't rust from splashing or chlorine, and you can see the pool through it. Vinyl gives privacy and is also rust-free. Ornamental steel is the strongest but needs its finish kept up near the water. Whatever the material, the design has to meet the 4-foot and 4-inch rules.
My lot is over 2 acres. Do I still need a pool fence?
Norman's barrier requirement applies to lots under 2 acres, but a fence is still the single best layer of protection around a pool, especially with children or pets nearby. Your HOA or homeowners insurance may also require one, so check with both.
When should the pool fence go in during a pool build?
Plan it with your pool builder early, so the fence line, gates and any posts set in the pool deck are part of the layout. The fence usually goes in near the end of the build, before the pool's final inspection, since the barrier is part of what's checked.
Can the house wall be part of the pool barrier?
Often, yes, if the house forms one side of the enclosure. Doors and low windows that open from the house into the pool area may need extra protection, such as self-closing doors or alarms, depending on the code that applies. We confirm the requirements with the City of Norman for your layout before we design the fence.
