Black Chain Link Fence in Norman, OK
Ironclad Fence Norman installs black vinyl-coated chain link fences across Norman, OK and Cleveland County, for backyards, dog areas, pools, HOA neighborhoods, parks and businesses. Black fabric with matching black posts, top rail and fittings reads as a thin dark line against grass and trees, so you look through the fence instead of at it. As a fence company in Norman, OK, we use bonded, UV-stabilized coated fabric over galvanized steel and set every post in concrete below the frost line. For galvanized options and gauges, see chain link fences.
Why us
Why Choose Us for Black Chain Link in Norman, OK
Black chain link only disappears into the yard if every part is black and the fabric is tight. We make sure of both.
-
Bonded Coating Over Galvanized
Zinc underneath, bonded vinyl on top: two layers of rust protection that hold up where the wire is cut.
-
Black From Top to Bottom
Posts, rails, bands, caps and gate hardware all color-matched, so no silver parts break up the line.
-
HOA-Friendly
We build to your HOA’s height and color rules, and black is often the chain link they’ll approve.
-
Tight and Straight
Tension bars and bands at every terminal post and a bottom tension wire keep the fabric taut.

Compare
Black Vinyl-Coated vs. Galvanized Chain Link
Same strength and the same install, but a very different look and a little more protection.
| Galvanized | Black vinyl-coated | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Bright silver, stands out | Dark, blends into lawns and trees |
| Rust protection | Zinc coating | Zinc plus a bonded vinyl layer |
| Framework | Galvanized posts and rails | Black-coated posts, rails and fittings |
| HOA approval | Often restricted | Often allowed |
| Best for | Back lots, work yards, budget runs | Visible yards, pools, HOAs, parks |
Both use the same gauges, heights and gates. Galvanized chain link typically lasts 15–25 years in Oklahoma; the vinyl layer adds protection on top of that.

Questions
Black Chain Link FAQ — Norman, OK
Is black chain link just painted?
No. Quality black chain link is galvanized steel wire with a layer of PVC (vinyl) bonded or fused onto it, made to the ASTM F668 standard for coated chain link fabric. The zinc underneath protects the steel, and the vinyl adds a second barrier and the color. Paint would chip and peel; the coating doesn't.
Do the posts and rails come in black too?
Yes. A black chain link fence uses black-coated posts, top rail, tension bands, caps and gate hardware, so the whole fence is one color. Mixing black fabric with silver posts is cheaper but stands out, which defeats the purpose.
Will the black coating fade or peel?
Good coated fabric is UV-stabilized for sun exposure, so it holds its color for many years. Bonded coatings stay attached even where the wire is cut, while thin, loosely extruded coatings on bargain fabric can crack or slip. We install bonded fabric and color-matched framework.
Will my HOA allow black chain link?
Often, when it won't allow plain galvanized. Many neighborhoods that restrict chain link make an exception for black, especially on back and side lines, because it blends in. Check your HOA's guidelines; we'll match what they require.
Can black chain link be used around a pool?
It can, as long as it meets Norman's pool rules: at least 4 feet tall, no opening a 4-inch sphere can pass through, and a self-latching gate. Smaller mesh is harder for children to climb, so we often suggest it for pool barriers.
Black or green chain link?
Both are coated the same way. Black is the most popular because it reads as a thin dark line against almost anything. Green can disappear even better along lawns and hedges, but it looks out of place against brick or a gravel drive.
Can I convert my silver chain link fence to black?
Usually by replacing the fabric and framework, since coating can't be added on site. If the posts are sound, we can sometimes keep them and paint them, but for a uniform look most people replace the whole fence. Black privacy slats are a cheaper way to darken an existing fence.
